Today was the first time ever that I took Jesse with me on the morning walk. It is a little long for him (about an hour), but he coped just fine... running most of the way! He stays nice and close... unlike the lurchers... and that's nice!
I will now take him with us in the mornings on the days that I don't walk him in the evening (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays). It'll make my life easier rather than trying to squeeze a walk in before going out again.
Oh, and Jesse had his first pigs ear yesterday. He loved it and was in seventh heaven for about an hour... that's how long it took him to chew it all up. LOL

Walking down the stairs
Jesse is finally brave enough now to also walk down the stairs. After putting him onto the stairs half way down, he now does the whole lot! Now we need to make sure that he doesn't go up and down too often as it does put a strain on the joints obviously.

All milk teeth gone
Today, the last two canines came out and I can now not see any milk teeth left. The adult teeth all seem to come through without problems.

Getting braver on walks
Jesse is now getting braver on walk too. Yesterday was the first time really that he ran a few yards ahead of me from time to time rather than always hang around my feet or stay within a yard or so. He does however have perfect recall and turns round immediately when I call.
He also rolled in fox poo for the first time yesterday... yikes... He had to have a bath after that, which he seems to quite enjoy these days. He definitely doesn't like the blow drying bit afterwards though.
He now also seems to have the full set of new teeth in his upper jaw, the lower one still has some milk teeth (including the canines) and also some gaps... LOL
On Saturday evening, we went to see my parents-in-law and we took Jesse with us. He provided all of us with plenty of entertainment once again... One of the things he does is find all the toy mice that the cat has spread throughout the flat... LOL

Adolescent Jesse
Yep, adolescence has well and truly kicked in for dear little Jesse... LOL
On Tuesday evening, Flash was running about with a blade of grass in his mouth. I don't know what exactely happened (I didn't see it), but suddenly we had an argument on our hands between Jesse, Flash and Troy... We quickly stopped it and all was well again.
Then a few minutes later, suddenly a scream from Jesse and a row again with Jesse flying at Flash! Again, I didn't really see what happened, but I think that Jesse got possibly a loose tooth caught on Flash when playing, which must have hurt like hell. Again, we stopped it all (with Jesse screaming away for another few seconds) and I checked Jesse over. I couldn't see anything at all, so I really think it was a tooth (he has now already both top canines missing with the new ones coming through already).
No further problems since. But Jesse is definitely becoming more assertive and brave... and he is probably heading for a severe telling off from Troy and possibly Dylan. But we knew this would happen with Jesse growing up and testing the boundaries and the hormones kicking in etc. Flash I think will just take up the bottom place again... poor sausage... but he doesn't really care much as long as he gets to play lots with Jesse and gets his runs, he is fine.
Jesse got a bath on Tuesday evening, he smells all nice again and is lovely and fluffy! His fur is also slowly changing to being more silky than just fluffy.

Growing up
Jesse is growing up first. He has started telling Dylan and Flash off when he felt the need (once Dylan was laying across him, and once Flash wanted to take a ball off of him), so we need to watch him a bit more. It is going fine so far as Dylan and Flash take it ok. Jesse doesn't try anything on with Troy though... particularly since he has been told off by him again last week for jumping on and across his head... He is much more careful again now LOL.
He has also started humping Flash... Jesse has always been humping my leg from the day we got him; it seemed more like an affection thing. Now however, he is showing more of an interest in other dogs and started with Flash!
Other than that, his new teeth are coming through nicely... he hasn't lost any other canines yet, just the one! He finds it hard to chew hard stuff at the moment, so we soak his food a little more for the time being. He is eating fine though and is on a good weight.

First canine tooth out
I found that Jesse's first baby canine is missing... he is losing teeth at an amazing rate, but I can't wait until he has the full set of less painful adult teeth! LOL
Jesse also had a nice play with a young rottie girl today... It's the first time he met a rottie.

Lots of things...
A lot has happened since my last post...
On Wednesday, 2nd May, I got a devastating phone call... Cornel's brother Wayne had died very unexpectedly. He was only 47 years old... (younger than Cornel). He died from heart failure; we don't know yet what the cause of the heart failure was.
We went to see Wayne and all the family immediately in Kingston Hospital. Luckily, Karen was able to pop in at 1 am to check on the dogs and make sure everything was ok. At 3 am, we got home.
The next day, Thursday, 3rd May, my father-in-law was brought to hospital to sort out complications that arose from an operation he had a week before. So we went to see him in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Luckily, all was under control there and father-in-law much more comfortable.
On Friday, we went to see my parents-in-law as my father-in-law was at home again. We took Jesse with us. He helped us all to smile with his antics... he made us all laugh when he tried to get Puddles, the cat, to play with him and he couldn't understand why he wouldn't... LOL
On Sunday, we went to the hospital chapel, where my father-in-law saw Wayne for the first time (he wasn't fit enough before).
It is a very hard time for everyone! I must say though that our dogs have all been brilliant. They didn't mind us going out and coming back at funny times, sometimes in the middle of the night. Even Jesse coped just fine with 6 hours home alone time, which is the longest he has ever been. But there were never any accidents, not from Jesse - and to my surprise not from Flash either!
In fact, I think it was Wednesday or Thursday, that we had the first accident-free day from Jesse... we still get one or two accidents sometimes, but we have indeed had a couple of accident-free ones, which is excellent progress.
Jesse now always sleeps with the other dogs and loves it. He seems more settled too... and yesterday (Bank Holiday Monday) didn't wake us until just before 9 am to go to toilet. What a great boy!
We also found the first tooth today, a molar. He has lost and replaced most of the little teeth in the front already, but the molar is the first tooth that I actually found!
On Sunday, for the first time, I took all three - Dylan, Flash and Jesse - out all together. I don't want to do this too often as it is a long walk for Jesse and no socialising with other dogs, but he and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So it will probably be something like a once-a-week treat for a while.
Today, we had a lovely walk in the small park around the corner and met a bunch of dogs. Jesse had a great time... here are some pictures:

First cratefree night
Last night was the first night that I didn't crate Jesse - and it went great. When I woke up at 6 am, he was on the big memory foam dog bed outside our bedroom... No wees or poos around either. At 7 am I got up, took him out for toiletting, then took Dylan and Flash for a walk.
Tonight, I will take his crate out and put a mat down for him instead (he doesn't like fluffy type beds as they are too warm for him). He can still chose where to sleep, on his own bed, with Dylan and Flash in their bed or on the big bed in the hallway (which he obviously chose last night).
